Volks, I have a simmilar tale to tell. My 85 westy with a 1.9 l boxxer currently has 235.563 miles on the odo .I'm the third owner and my father (who can't tell a combo wrench from a screwdriver ) was the second .I've got all the service records from the PO and the only serious work other than tune ups , was the head gaskets . The van gets between 19 and 23 mph depending on time of year and amount of highway time . The oil of choice at this point is mobil 1 20-50 . Changed every 3k with a new factory filter insalled at the same time. This helped with the slightly low oil pressure and stoped a small amount of blow by .Currently working on installing a gti motor , Have ALL the diesel stuff cleaned and ready to install but just found a crack in the case of the doner engine . back to the hunt !!!
