well, the powers-that-be have decreed that my email address (above) will disappear from the planet tonight. :( so anybody that has that address in their web pages, address books, toilet walls or whatever, might as well change it now, while you're thinking about it.

i can be reached at jwalker@bama.ua.edu a new super-whoopie unix box with basically shit for mail programs and text editors. :(

i can also be reached at jwalker@tusc.net ... a commercial isp.

the whole point of this is that the Weakly Statz will cease ... the new box doesn't have the same software as the old one (surprise!!!) and i don't know how long it'll take me to convert the "programs" (really just some REXX scripts/execs) to run in fortran on the new machine. :(

i'll still be around, but the old familiar ua1vm.ua.edu will be gone. and i ain't crazy about this new crap. seems to me to be several steps backwards in user-friendliness and usability ... i always thought computers were supposed to do the work. ;)
