There is some interest from here, but, just as you suggest, a severe lack of
funding.  But that's how it always goes with VW's.  You are too busy fixing
things to modify anything. That's why my GTI is still in the stock class at
car shows.  The best way to do it is to upgrade things as you find yourself
needing to replace them.
