i was quoting a VW shop foreman when i made a statement that the 5cyl diesels were a mechanical nightmare.. i had gone to him and asked if he thought the '83 5000TD he had sitting out in his parts yard would be a good engine donor.. he mentioned something about them being more trouble prone than the gas versions. and i know someone with a '83 5000 turbodiesel that is now running a non turbo gas motor in their car.., and have seen a few '81-'83 5000TD in junkyards with half of their engine dissasembled.. but i dont know much about the 5cyl TD. but why did audi pull the 5cyl TD out of the US market in '83 if it was such a good car??

no flames, im just not a diesel fan.

chris
