mike, youd be better off with an engine like the one in your '89 TQ....finding
a good used '81-'83 5cyl TD is like finding a needle in a haystack...there
were very few 5000 turbodiesels imported to the US..
i had located a '86 5000 turbo being parted in NH  the guy wants $500 for the
motor.. that seems like a good deal...
