After working for several years in a VW/Saab dealership I could tell that there was a difference (at least for me) between the ergonomics of European, Japanese, and American built vehicles. When I sat in a '98 Jetta and then my '94 Dakota the feeling was totally different. Not because one was a truck and the other a car, but more of the thought process of the person that laid the gages and whatnot out between the two vehicles. The difference is even more pronounced between a Geo and a A4 Jetta! After doing it for a while, you'll 'know' when you sit in a German designed car.
