In a message dated 99-01-08 02:15:19 EST, you write:

<< The Mechanic's Tool Guide is a plagurized version* of a Peter Egan column in Road & Track. I'm sure that it's copyrighted. Let's be careful here volks. Liability and all that...

* replace motorcycle with Mustang (though with Mr. Egan, it should be Lotus) and replace neighbor with Chris, if I remember right. (I've got the R&T in my magazine file somewhere.)

Well....... I don't want to make light of your assignment of ownership of this humorous compilation to one Peter Egan (I have read his column and Road & Track for many years) but I fear you are wrong. I've seen various versions of this thing in all kinds of places well prior to reading Egan's version. The first remembered sighting for me was about 1970 on the wall of a Triumph dealer's service department. The bad thing was I believe the mechanics there used it as their actual tool guide! My Spitfire sure looked like they did when I got it back!
