Having all of us respond to the email about spam has amounted to spamming ourselves. I am on three different vehicle-orientated listserves (Jeeps, Vanagons, and Aircooled VWS). All of them invariably will have some vendor content b/c some of us love these cars some much, we manage to make a living out of them. Allot of knowledge can come along with these individuals. If they share that knowledge + a little sales info. No harm, No foul. Of course, if someone does nothing but post part prices that wouldn't constitute much of a discussion. SO, the best thing I can say is, delete those messages you don't care for based on the sender or subject title. I don't even own a vanagon. I'm here looking for AC T4 info, and also specific info on Syncros. SO, I delete allot of the fine information that comes to me. I READ WHAT SUITS MY NEEDS. Actually I'm keen to find a Syncro rolling chassis at this time (suspension, drivetrain complete) if anyone has a hint where one might be available. The list is not ebay, so don't post parts flyers here. BUT, some vendors are quite happy to clear up vanagon owner problems, and they do it free of charge when they post real info. Also we will experience lots of repeat posts on subjects like Jeep wheels on VWs, etc. as new members join. That's just the way it is. Unless you can find a way to force all new members to read the entire archives prior to posting anything. Now I am through spamming the list, DougJ |
