Hi all. Siegfried developed a case of the Temp gauge soar the other day. On my way home from school, the temp gauge climbed and kept going, past the light in the middle of the gauge to about 3/4 of the way to the top. The needle did not reach the top (saw that already one engine ago), but I am very concerned. I checked the coolant tank behind the license plate. I added maybe a cup of 50/50 mix. I haven't added any in at least 3 months. The oil was a little low so in went .5 quart of 10W - 40. The cooling fan in front did not go on, there are no visible or olfactory signs of coolant leaks. Is it possible the temp gauge is reacting badly to the cold 0<, we've had? Anything else to check before I throw myself on the mercy of the mechanic? TIA Mike |
