Funny you bring this up. I recently changed the shocks in my father 81. It
had 105,000 miles on them. They weren't shot...just a little soft. I test
them by finding a good side dip and checking the rebound rate. My 84 has
194,000 miles on the originals and they are just starting to get a little
soft. On the other hand, my 87 Audi 5000 S has 167,500 miles on it, and the
front struts are SHOT!!!! Thank god that it has cartridges instead of
having to replace the entire strut. I intend to replace them with KYB Gas
Adjust. Worked great on my fathers van...
