Carroll, Thank you for the clarification. I must admit that I know not what I speak of when it comes to marine electrochemistry..and it is certainly very different than my encounters in the lab version! I defer to your wisdom and experience on that. Now, VW maintains that the kind of corrosions we observe in our Vanagon (and other Al VW engines) is not a problem in Europe. They blame it on our water or at least hint that it may be because of our water. Is there any validity to this? Can the ionic composition of their water be so different than ours?
