Actually, the subject line is a misnomer, I'm not actually having problems, YET. I've had my van for almost 2 years now, I'm the second owner. It has squeaked off and on from the right front every since I purchased it. I've read many posts about the squeaky bushings and just assumed that was my problem (shame on me!) I took it to a local gas station and had them put it up on the lift so I could check the underbody. I have a leak at what the guy at the station says is the power steering bushing (?). There is a dust cover over it that is coated with PS fluid and dust. I can't see an active leak or even a seep. So right now, all that's going on is the squeaking and the really slow leak, no steering problems. What are my next steps, is this an urgent thing? Does anyone know exactly what the repair entails? The station guy doesn't seem to know much, just says that it will be expensive to fix. He says its better to replace the whole steering gear, rather than to try and repair this one. Is this correct? Thanks for any help you can give me. Oh, I'm in the Northern Virginia area if anyone knows of a reputable (cheap) shop to take care of the baby. Thanks, Karen -- |
