I would personally not own a convex mirror, I find the fish eye style stick-on mirrors to be much more handy when checking blind spots, while keeping the flat main mirror so I can see distances as they are, like while backing down my driveway at night, or down a logging trail that got too rugged for my tastes. I have seen these mirrors for as little as $7.00, and up to $20.00, depending on where (almost anywhere), and size. One tip, before you permanently attach the mirror, try taping it on at different spots on the mirror and try some basic parking maneuvers in your driveway (esp. parallel parking) to decide which position you like most. The placement of the mirror can either make this a total waste of money, or the best $20.00 spent on your van. Hope this helps....

P.S. they also do an excellent job checking your driver side blind spot as you're changing lanes to pass a brand new Mercedes SUV, while going up a grade (I have done this, heh heh, show them...)
