George - Last Summer I got a Wild Hair eating at me and decided to order a whole bunch of stuff for my '85GL from The Bus Depot. Included were four KY Jelly shocks for the old '85GL. My originals (which I kept to sell as NOS for $99.95 to List members) ever had oversprayed undercoating on them. Couldn't really tell if they were worn out via the old method of "bouncing" the Van.

Prepare yourself! These new shocks are responsible for keeping my vertebrae in perfect adjustment, they will also be responsible for leading you to every "loose" item on the chassis, suspension or bodywork, BUT the old Vanagon really does perform much better on these mountain roads around here! AND, they are CHEAP!

Word-of-advice! Buy 'em, find a shop which will agree to put them on and avoid doing the job yourself, if finances enable! I replaced the rears (not too bad) but the fronts were a bear. I gave up and let the local muffler shop do the job. Took them about 15 minutes on the front. Probably would have taken them 10 on the rear.

BOB - WA4RRN '85GL ALGORE FOR FOUR MORE!
