DrRufo - Not quite sure how this "photon drive" thread got started! My
advocacy of & offering for sale of 2-10 mega-candle-power
miltary-surplus lights for the Vanagon had more to do with blinding the
crap out of those jerks who are blinding you with their oncoming
hi-beam/foglight combinations AND those jerks who ride your Vanagon's
butt with their hi-beams blinding you! Of course, depending upon just
how one chooses to mount the units I offer, one can expect to NEVER
"over-drive" their headlights, in clear or foggy weather! The 10
mega-CP unitin fact, has been comfirmed to offer a minimum of 1200 yard
visibility in rain, sleet, snow, fog, smoke and even curvy roads!
Considering propulsion units for our Vanagons, I'm torn! Wankels,
Subarus, fine German TDI's, fine American IRON, Swedish stuff, Harley
hog engines, HECK! I just am still just searching!!!
Brother John, who is my engineer brother who has worked on "black
projects" for the past 25 years is encouraging me to look into a
"neutron drive", for, uh limited use! The only real "problem", Brother
John tells me, is that everyone behind my Vanagon will be as serious
risk for somewhat intantaneous "death", though, from the neutrons doing
a job on all their body cells they pass through!
Vic Montgomery, who I haven't noticed on the List for a few weeks,
turned me onto the idea of a surplus jet turbine, mounted on the roof of
our Vanagons, for those "special times" when we need a bit of extra
BOOST. Vic's the Dude who used to fly the '59 model SR-71 on
reconnaisance missions back when we didn't even KNOW about the SR-71!
He turned me on to a delightful British made jet engine we can get for
$5000!!! Anyone interested can take a look at

potential of mounting this 6.5' x 2' x 600# piece of REAL POWER on the
roof of their Vanagon! Vic tells me all we need in addition are the
proper controls, a 30 gallon tank of premium kerosene (and another 30
gallon tank for distilled water IF we think we might have any need for
the afterburner!) and we're in business for passing in-a-hurry on those
short straight-a-ways or while heading up mountain roads.
You know, this jet engine doesn't HAVE to be used at full throttle,
according to Vic, when needed! I'm considering trying it out to see how
it does work in those tight situations. Vic figures that mounted on the
top of a Vanagon will allow the exhaust to flow over vehicles following
closely behind.
It may take a bit of development, though, to make passengers feel
"safe", sitting under this engine. Oh well, as long as I can keep
engineers out of the equation, I may be on to something which might
enable us to keep our 1.9/2.1's in our Vanagons AND solve the problems
of passing in a hurry, heading up hill and out-dragging the pimply-teens
in their Geo Metros that show up ever so often!!!
