Just when you think that there is order in the world, someone or something (UPS in this case) comes along with evidence that the chaos theory is alive and well!

It is amazing indeed that a bureaucracy can be so consistently obtuse, and equally wonderous that you fought so long and valiantly.

Whatever happened to the concept of customer service? If this were my business, I would have made an exception to the standard way of doing things, and worked to retain my customer. (This may explain why I left large organizations years ago and have been self employed ever since.)

Maybe we have to follow the suggestion of a couple of other Listees and ship space available by air? For those shipments to/from locations not served by scheduled airlines, possibly the trusty bus (Greyhound/Trailways) would be possible.
