Martin -- Am I correct in guessing that the engine you bought came with the injection pump, turbo, etc? And it cost you about $2500? I suspect that's a somewhat better deal than $1500 for the long block without those pieces. 'Suspect' is a key word here, I can't say I've tried to find prices on those items new. Just thinking about it scares me ;)

Gary

I agree with you. That's why I bought it when I had the opportunity. Complete engines are not normally imported. With 10 or more orders it makes sense to import yourself. I tried to organize such a group buy on the list last year, but while I was swamped with email and questions it was impossible to tell who would commit at the end apart form the (probably majority) of just curious people. I ended up buying from an established importer instead who was nice enough to knock some of his regular price anyway.

To go substantially cheaper than 2500 total you need to pull the accessories off a junker. Then you get a new block ($1500) with old acc instead of everything new.

Buying the accessories at dealer prices is out of the question. Most stuff can be found through other channels but it takes some time and effort to search.
