In the past, people were asked to put their location and VW type(s) in their signature file; voluntary, of course. I think that's more useful than a separate web page, but that's just me.

One thing to consider is for listmembers to join LiMBO. See: http://www.bcn.net/~limbo for more info.

LiMBO puts out a directory of owners (who wish to be in it) who will help you out in a pinch or even just as a travel break for C&C (coffee and conversation). We've made use of this once while broken down out of town. The people we talked to led us to the best shop in town and we avoided the VW dealer thing.

Members can decide what to offer in their listing. We're in the directory and have stuff like space to work on a bus, some parts, some expertise, C&C, spare bed, etc. It's been fun the few times we've had people over (Larry & Avery: we're out of your home made maple syrup...can you come back and we'll give you the empty mason jar? ;-).

BTW, as Jim DiGennaro pointed out, there's a parallel LiMBO mailing list one http://www.onelist.com (search for limbo on the main screen).
