FWIW, I don't know about today's offerings, but nearly 12 years ago I tried this once, (on another car) - - got a flat caused by scraping the tire sidewall against a curb. This was not considered road hazard, as I recall. I never renewed the coverage. For the flats I have had since, none would qualify as road hazard under the old policy I had.

Don't know about the Vanagon, so far, but I am inclined to doubt it would be worth it.

On the other hand, I didn't live in a city with tons of potholes or in rough countryside with lots of rocky roads. Maybe others who have, have found road hazard coverage worthwhile.

Just my 2¢.
