I can't address crock pots, but I have an Empire brand coffee/tea/soup/etc.
maker made by The Metal Ware Corp., Two Rivers, Wisconsin that's dual powered.
On 120 volts it's 435 watts and on 12 volts it draws 165 watts.  It bears UL
and SA approval stamps.  It does just what it promises to do.
