Subject:      '88 rear side window vents - cleaning?

You know how these vents have a foam filter on the interior portion? How does
one dismantle these things to clean out the filters? Do you have to take the
window out of the gasket/seal? I've tried to clean them with a vacuum cleaner,
but the dust is sort of greasy, and just won't come out.

Please note - During the past 17 years of operation, several gigabytes of Vanagon mail messages have been archived. Searching the entire collection will take up to five minutes to complete. Please be patient!
