Hi all, I have decided to make the switch to an inline VW engine in my 82 Diesel Westy. I'm still looking for input on which engine to use (or not use) and which transmission would make the most sense. A couple of folks have suggested the Vanagon Air-cooled Tranny. Thanks for any and all input, Michael Avrea 82 Diesel (For the moment!) Westy

I'm looking for input on things to conceder, which engine to use etc... My budget is tight so I don't think it will afford going to a big enough diesel engine (1.9 TD) to make me happy. I don't want another 1.6 it's just to slow! I'm figuring on a used one. I'm not a mechanic so I will be paying for the labor @ $15 per hour except for welding which I'll need to sub out. I will be doing the leg work. Thanks for any and all input, Michael Avrea 82 Diesel (For the moment!) Westy<<
