David - Not necessarily. I've spent over twenty years driving around with amateur radio transceivers in my vehicles. They are certainly subject to lots of vibration and more temperature variations, ESPECIALLY the 60's & 70's tube-type transceivers, than any part of a vehicle other than the engine system!
