I've noticed that my oil pressure seems to come up much more slowly since my last oil change. On a cold start, the pressure will stay at 0 for about 5 - 8 seconds before rising slowly to its normal level. The oil pressure warning light blinks during this time. I suspect I may have installed a defective oil filter (it was a Mahle). Aren't Vanagon filters designed with a valve that keeps oil from draining out of the filter for the purpose of getting the oil pressure up quickly? I'd appreciate any confirmation of this as well as observations of oil pressure on cold starts (for those with an oil pressure gauge). Mark McCulley Seattle WA 87 syncro Westfalia
