I believe a Universal Vanagon Update List would be valuable for all new and many experienced Vanagon owners. We all know that any newly acquired Vanagon is as old as the current date of manufacture. So even the latest should have their potentially catastrophic incident inducing fuel lines checked with a thought toward replacement. Similarly, waterboxer equipped Vanagons apparently have "no fuse for any of the fuel injector wires, the coil, ecu, O2 sensor, idle stabilizer, fuel pump." Isn't this another clearly needed area for active intervention and improvement to any newly acquired Vanagon? Add a fuse, prevent possible meltdown. Most of us don't own ph. meters, (I'll sell you mine if you want one), but for recently acquired waterboxers where the anticorrosion properties of the coolant are unknown, isn't that another area that should receive attention in the first week of ownership? I feel this inadequate beginning should become a useful and more complete list for easy reference by the ever continuing flow of new Vanagon owners who appear on the Vanagon List. How about helping create a good Universal Vanagon Update list for instant attention by people in that position? The need exists. This community of friends has the insights needed to create it.
