Hi, when I rebuilt my 85' Vanagon last summer I seem to recall all of the belts being the same size. So, if you are in a bind, you could use the power steering pump belt on the alternator/water pump until you can find a replacement. The bus should be quite drivable without power steering. Just try and avoid parallel parking :-).

As a side note, I also learned that the most common bolt sizes are: 10mm, 13mm, 15mm and 17mm. So make sure you have at minimum those sockets with you when you travel.

Best of luck,

Paul Borghese
