I paid $8.00 a gallon at All-Car (a chain that may or may not be in your area). It is compatible with other anti-freezes. Don't confuse it with their regular anti-freeze, or the Summit brand which is propylene glycol based. Don't trust the "Ingredients" section of the label on any anti-freeze. For instance, STP mentions "anti corrosion inhibitors" in the fine print, but the Ingredients list only ethylene glycol, di-someting-ethylene glycol and water. I wouldn't buy it. If you can't find any that doesn't state unequivocally that it's phosphate free and ethylene glycol based, I'd suggest gritting your teeth and paying what the VW dealer asks, which was $18 a gallon last time I checked. ---------------------------- Fred Younger fyounger@amfam.com |
