Mark McCulley wrote... What is the environmentally proper way to dispose of used antifreeze? In WA, all the FLAPS are required to provide for collection of used motor oil but there is no such provision for other toxic fluids. The only option I see is to carry the stuff in the house and pour it down the drain. That way, it gets treated by the sewage plant and doesn't go directly into the local river, lake, ocean, etc. Is there a better solution? Here in VA, the counties are required to provide collection points for "household hazardous waste" to inc. oil, paint, batteries, antifreeze. I keep an oil and antifreeze 5 gal "gerry can" in the garage and when full, go to the county dump and pour into they're recycle containers. Mike falls church, va |
