Subject: Clutch adjustment on Vanagon
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

Hi: I have an 87 Wolfsburg, 175K miles. In the last 2 days, I have found it very hard to get into gear at a standstill, lots of grinding, etc. It feels like I just need to adjust the free play, but the only adjustment that I could find in the Bentley book is at the clutch master cylinder clevis-to-pushrod, and I can't even feel that part, never mind see it. I really don't want to take my instrument panel out to get to it! It also occurs to me that the reason there is no adjustment is that none is possible, and I just have a clutch that is coming apart. ( I guess I should quit drag racing the old loaf, hunh?) Anyway, I wondered whether there is any net.wisdom on this topic...

Thanks, Chris 87 Wolfsburg
