Subject: Idle Stabilizer fix
Content-Type: Text/Plain; Charset=US-ASCII

Hello all,

Over the X-mas holidays my idle stabilizer decided to go out. The engine started racing to 4000rpms all by itself. I bypassed the stab. by disconnecting the electrical conection going to it and consulted the list. All the rsponses were helpful, THANKS.

Larry Johnson's fix worked best and saved me $$$. He recommended to remove the stab. and cleaning it out with throttle body cleaner and drying it with compressed air, then spraying in some light oil. For a temporary fix he said to just spray WD40 into it. I did the temp fix (no access to compressed air at the time). I sprayed the WD40 into the ports and worked the spring valve back and forth with a screw driver. This must have freed it up because when I reinstalled the stab. it worked fine. Cold starts are a breeze now and there is no ghost in the machine causing it to race to ungodly rpms. Thanks again Larry,. This list sure has helped me quite a few times.
