I just bought an ECU for my '89 vanagon at: Volks Cafe Santa Cruz, CA. 831-426-1244 Sorry, don't know a URL. Also, this is not an endorsement, although they were very nice and also prompt with delivery. I spent a lot of time on the phone, and it appears to have been a competitive price. This was a rebuilt one, it was really hard to find, but I think they had more of them. Sorry if any vendors listening may have had one and I didn't find you. I tried some parts recyclers that could check the "junk yard internet" or whatever it is called, and they were not at all encouraging. Not cheap, but you may want to give them a call.
