Subject: really high idle when cold
Content-type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Got an '87 Syncro that displays the following symptoms: Van starts fine from cold (overnight, after work, etc...). I get to the stoplight at the end of my development. I put in clutch (this is about 30 seconds after start) and idle shoots up rather quickly to 3,000 rpm and stays right there. Only after engine is fully warm does the idle back down to normal.

I think its the idle stabilizer valve, but don't want to dish out $200 to find out its not. Any suggestions on further troubleshooting or cheaper alternatives? If not, I guess I'll have to bite the bullet...

Thanks
