Subject: Second battery relay
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1

I've read with interest all the recent post re: the relay and hooking up a 2nd battery...now a question. Our 82 Westy came with the refrigerator 12 volt heater relay installed (this is the five post one shown in the Bentley book for the 82 year camper) below the drivers seat. All is good and everything works as is, but I'd really like to get the Optima installed soon. Holding me back is the wiring I see...it doesn't match ANY of the diagrams in the book for any year.

Here is the rundown of how it is now connected:

Terminal 30.......Red 2.5mm Terminal 87.......Red 2.5mm Terminal 87.......Red 1.5mm Terminal 85.......Blue 0.5mm Terminal 86.......Brown 1.5mm attached to mounting screw (ground)

A few assumptions.. Terminal 30 goes to fridge Terminal 87 2.5mm goes to Battery + Terminal 87 1.5mm goes to Display unit Terminal 85 goes to Alternator terminal D+ So Terminal 30 should go to the ignition switch terminal 50, but instead goes direct to ground. Is this what Terminal 50 would do also? I'm having a hard time with the wiring diagram on this one, so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Mark
