Who needs a vendor? I needed one of those brackets a couple of months back. Resolving that I would nail the muffler to the frame before I paid the $50 I went to the local Home Depot and picked up a length of iron strapping for about three bucks and a carrage bolt for a dime. Using the old strap as a model; a half hour in the garage with a hack saw, a hammer and a drill and I had me a perfectly servicable strap. > -----Original Message----- > From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com]On Behalf > Of Mike > Sent: Tuesday, February 09, 1999 10:22 PM > To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM > Subject: Re: Muffler/Catalytic prices? > > > Welcome to dealer price shopping, check with the vendors on the list, the > should be able to beat those prices substantially, now if only we > could find a > vendor for those $50.00 muffler brackets that rust/weld to the muffler and > require replacement also. > > good luck > > Mike > 87 Westy > > James, Daniel wrote: > > > '83 Westy wasserboxer > > > > Mechanic quoted me for a new cat and mufferl @ $250 each. > Since I've never > > bought either of these, is that a good price - seems expensive for the > > muffler. > > > > Thanks, > > > > Dan > |
