>I've been reading the posts about synthetic oil. I'm thinking about trying it >out, but to be honest, I'm not sure why. Obviously allot of you good folks >think it's the best thing since Erin Gray's second season on Buck Rogers. >Anyway...How often do you change this stuff? Every 3K? Is there any short term >economic difference? Most of the Vanagons experience a problem in the oil flow and with the switches, synthetic oil cures that - or part of the problem. VW recommends an oil / oilfilter change every 15000 KM or about 9000 miles. synthetic cost 4/5 quarts some $12 and $8 for the filter and gasket so by skipping your fathers advice changing the oil every 3000 k you would probably save money and do something good to your engine Onkel Max |
