My car is the 86GL. It likes to idle at 2000rpm. It sometimes drops below this to around 1000 but is kind of rough at that speed. It will, once in a while, just stop completely. It always starts right back up. My wife has the 87GL. A week ago she reported that it was "lurching" and she was afraid to drive it. We had it towed home and the next day I looked at it. I could not see anything obviously wrong. I drove it and it seemed fine. I drove it for a couple of days and had no problems. Yesterday she told me that it did it again. I think I got a better description of "lurch". It appears to have lost power. The engine didn't stall, it continued to run but had no power. Thinking about what I had done (nothing), she turned the ignition off and then started it back up. It started fine and ran fine. Any ideas on either of these problems?? Thanks, I know there will be help forthcoming.
