About speed with a VW vanagon: And what does it all mean? Check out the book called: "Volkswagen Guide" by Carroll, 1958 On page 51 he writes: "Common American Mistakes. One of the first impressions received by a motorist changing from a large American car to a VW is that pressure on the accelerator pedal produces little change in car speed. This is true to a certain extent, for the fine gasoline mileage of a VW has been obtained through sacrifice of "drag strip" acceleration. As a result of this feeling, most drivers tend to put the accelerator to the floor when driving. This is not helpful."

There is also a really hot tip on what to use to wash your volkswagen. On page 54 he writes: "If the car is very dirty, a mild (usually suggested for hosiery or lingerie) detergent may be used." Have fun. Harald 90 westy
