<< I've been driving my '85 Golf for years with the same whacky oil light/buzzer problem. Usually occurs when I just start out the driveway. A good rap on top of the dash shuts it up for a while, sometimes weeks. Whatever it is, it isn't the oil! Frank Miller >>

Frank,

I had the same problem with my 85 Jetta.....only happened at 2250 rpm. I had a VW tech tell me there was a problem with the instrument cluster for that year...some sort of bad component....he recommeded retrofit with a later module cluster. Time to hunt those junk yards, eh? Also, don't be using those FRAM filters, dude...
