Subject: Best Car Alarm?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Hi Volks, Actually I HATE car alarms. Or rather, I hate all the false alarms that punish my ears and my brain. In the past I have sworn that I would not be caught dead with a car alarm..... But I have learned in life that it is dangerous to use the word never..... And so it has come to pass that I am looking for a car alarm to install in my 90 Westy Syncro.

But I still hate false alarms and I am hoping to have a system that does not false alarm (as in ZERO false alarms). From what I have learned so far that seems to eliminate having a shock sensor (wind false alarms) or a motion sensor (micro wave false alarms). As far as I can tell that pretty much leaves me with door contact alarm triggers and a glass shatter sensor. And I am thinking that it would be best if I install this alarm myself since it seems that every time I have a 'professional' work on my van something gets messed up (and the quality of the workmanship is usually poor). Just the thought of one of these 'professionals' working in that jumble of wires behind the main fuse panel is enough to give me nightmares. So I would love to receive your suggestions as to: Best brand/model of car alarms.... Best place to buy a car alarm.... Placement of the components.... How/where to run wires to door contacts, etc. And any other hot tips that might keep me out of trouble... Thanks Bill 90 Westy Syncro
