I know that this has been covered (to death?) previously, but I can't get to the archives.

I have been offered some 7 x 15 ET35 Mercedes alloy wheels and plan to fit these with 235/75x15 BFG All Terrains onto my Syncro.

Doing the sums, it appears that I will end up with a 12.6% larger rolling diameter (assuming that the standard 185 x 14 is an 80% profile) and 20mm greater track width per side but with 30mm more width towards the trailing arms. Is there likely to be room for this extra width or should I consider some 6mm spacers? (effectively reducing the offset to ET29 - assuming that 26mm more protrusion will not cause problems with wheel arch clearance).

I vaguely recall somebody suggesting that I will need to find longer wheel studs for fitting alloys on a Syncro? Is this so, and where would I get some longer studs from and how difficult are they to fit? Is the nut profile the same on the Vanagon and Mercedes? Anyone BTDT?

Are there any 15" Vanagon alloys that do not require any modifucations to the hubs/wheels etc?
