Additional to Per I like to add following: The old LT series using engines wich have same bold pattern to the bellhousing like the Audi 5 inline. An engine swap to Vanagon is possible when using the SA bellhousing. But if you like to buy that vehicle, don't trash the body, it provides much more room for a camper conversion. But it has less traction because of the front engine/ rear drive concept. I would not recommend the VW 2.8 TDI: Less power, high fuel consumption.
