Hi Darrell, This information came direct from a technician who works the Bosch Tech Line 1-800-521-5462. According to the technician this is the better way to test the potentiometer since this is the actual voltage factor that the ECU uses. The ECU sends a reference voltage of 5 volts through the AFM. The resistance of the potentiometer is dependent upon the position of the air vane. And in result the voltage factor that returns to the ECU is used to determine the amount of air that is entering the motor at that time. Give them a call they are very friendly Kai
