Tom: You are to be commended for searching the archives first for this stuff! Here is a little tid-bit to think about. There was a discussion in late 1998 that seemed to resolve that the Vanagon blower is the exact same as the Rabbit/Golf blower of similar vintage. Check the archives on that stuff. Maybe you can get a new blower motor for cheaper from a parts store by having them look it up for the Rabbit/Golf!
