Hello.

I am new to the list. Just picked up a sweet '83 Vanagon/Westfalia (poptop, full inners). 115,000 miles. Mechanic (who deals with VWs) gave it a clean bill of health well actually two minor things??? I got it for $2500. I am psyched.

Question: CVs may be going... My mechanic says that he can swap the CVs across from each other and they then wear for another 100,000. Does this sound accurate? Another mechanic told me that I should take it to CV pros and have them put a whole new axle in for less than the cost of two new CVs and labor? Suggestions? What would you do?

Thanks.

Joe
