List members,
I have a further thought.
Why not mount a couple of 5# CO2 extinguishers in the engine compartment and
when it flames you pull cable activate the extinguishers.  I don't think I
would want to open the engine door on a bay window or especially a Vanagon
hatch cover if there is an active fire.
Screwy or smart?   You tell me.
