Subject: vibration with chassis
Content-Type: text/plain

Hi Folks VW replaced my syncro engine 2500Km ago and suddenly something is making contact with the bottom of the van making an unpleasant noise (like something is rattling inside the engine !). It's very much when the engine is warm rather than cold, but it's not obvious if it's the engine, transmission or what.

If the shift stick is put into second and forced back with a lot of weight, the vibration disappears. Alternatively, if the shift is put into 1st and forced forward very hard, it vibration/noise is re-created.

VW have been utterly useless diagnosing it, costing me money for nothing - 1st said it was a muffler and now saying it's the gear linkages.

Is there a popular place for the engine/transmission/exhaust system to make contact with the body or produce undesirable noises that anyone is aware of ? I can't believe it's unconnected with new engine & VW are unbelievably useless.

Thanks in advance Deepak syncro '87
