Subject: throttle body modification question 84 to 85
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

In the on going problem solving to solve the idle hunting problem present on Vinnie, We have replaced the original throttle body with a modified 84. This was due to excessivly worn components inside the bushings and housing/plate areas. It now looks just like the 85 did exept for the plate design inside- flat brass looking on the 84 v. tapered aluminum on the 85) and now it is herky gerky at real low RPM's instead of the smooth transition that was present on the 85 throttle body. My mechanic did a great job-IMHO-on the modification and I wonder if the stiffness in the accelerator pedal is common among 84's or does this throttle body require some more tweaking. He did adjust the throttle stop screw per Bently but on the bench not on the van. Does that make a difference? Are 84's sort of gerky at take off sometimes or at real low RPM's such as cruising around a parking lot looking for a space? Looking for the last peices to the puzzle,
