it all depends on the dealer. if you frequent the parts counter enough that the moro.. er, parts guys recognize you, you have a better chance of getting an old fiche. just by asking "hey, have you guys got any old microfiche that you don't use anymore??". they do, of course. all dealers save the fiche, if only for referencing older parts. it just depends on the dealer/parts-guy as to whether he likes you, whether you've bought enough stuff from him, and the phase of the moon, as to whether he'll give you one. if he asks why you want it, tell him so you can order stuff from him by phone and give him the part number ... so he won't have to look it up. THAT they understand. :)

i've gotten fiche from three different dealers, one by phone (Camelback in Phoenix, AZ) just by asking when i placed an order. so just be nice, put on your best i'm-a-good-customer face, and ask. and if they turn you down, go to another dealer. :)

joel p.s. it also works for non-vanagons. i've got a fiche for my brother's jetta that way.
