Subject: fuel pump relay problem still?!!!
Content-type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII

Thanks to all that sent me their advice on my relay problem. I just have some more info.

1) Both of the relays in the Eng. comp are the same is this normal? mine are they are a relay 40 amp w/ a resistor (I opened it) looks OK as a relay should 2) Before this thing went bad when you turned on the key the pump would run for 2-4 sec. I guess to build up pressure. Now it won't shut off. 3) I disconnected the pump wires at the pump and the relay stopped chattering. 4) I checked and wire brushed the 2 ground posts under the coil. 5) What happens if the idle control unit is disconnected will it still start? Disconnecting mine made no difference in my problem. 6) I checked the large grounding strap =2 ohms. 7) I disconnected one by one the afm, temp mod, throttle sens, p/s sens, oxy sens, dist, just about everything I could find in the Bentley.

The relay still chatters, it wont start, and the injectors are firing at random. The tach is at 0.

maybe it will fix itself (yeah right)

thanks to all Kurt Thomas
