Hello Tom , I'm doing good . I hope with you are the same. I'm looking for an Automatic Transmission. I've allready got a Turbo engine from 1986 and will fit this engine in to the Westy with the Auto Tranny when I get the stuff together . I'm still believe that the N/A engine have enough power and is less complecated and less expensive.

Today we are got back from Tahoe with the red Vanagon what you road tested . The new owner drove the whole way with an average speed from 75 miles and this even we had to put the chains on at Tahoe. Some times the speedo showed 95 miles and we drove with 5 person and Ski equipment and he put big 225/65/16 tire on 16 inch rims on the Vanagon. We calculated 19 miles per gallon and I think this is a real good Fuel mileage on a trip like this ,with all the weight and big tires. As you know the engine in the Vanagon only have 103 HP.

The Vanagon from Mark D. is a syncro/Westy and got the 2.22 l engine with 115 HP.This Vanagon drive smooth with no lack in power under any condition.

If you like you can road test the 4 Speed shifter Vanagon from my wife This conversion with a 2.22 l and appr. 130 Hp will be ready in the next week. I'll keep you updated on this project.

Sincerely Detlev Vanagon Projekt Livermore 925 606 8797
